PTMS Mobile App User Guide
1. Introduction
This document is the User Guide for the Derbyshitre Drive mobile application and covers how to use the App. There are a number of pre-requisites that will be required to operate some functions of the App.
App versions
The App is available for both Apple and Android operating systems. The minimum supported version of IOS is IOS 12 and Android is Android 5
How to get the application
The App is available to the public via the Apple App Store and the Google Playstore. For internal Derbyshire users it is distributed internally. The App is called ‘The Drive App’
App Modes
The App is designed to work in 3 Modes
Receive Travel updates mode
In this mode you will be receiving messages from the Derbyshire road network control centre giving information about the state of the traffic on your local roads.
Tracking Mode using a Token
In this mode you can enter a Token, provided by the Derbyshire road network team, to indicate to the Control Centre where you are on the road network. Examples may be:-
a) You are a road user and you want to inform the Derbyshire where you are so that other road users can be informed of your presence
b) You are part of an event taking place on the Derbyshire road network and you want other road users to be informed of your presence
Tracking Mode using a Username and Password
c) In this mode you are a regular road user and you want to inform the Derbyshire road network where you are so that other road users can be informed of your presence
2. Using the App
Starting the App
Once installed the App will appear on your phone as shown below, clicking on the App will start the App.
Accepting the Terms and Conditions
Once the App launches you will be presented with the Terms and Condition screen. You must accept the Terms and Conditions in order to use the application by clicking the Accept button.The Terms and Condition text can be viewed by clicking the ‘View Online’ link.

Application Home page
The Application Home Page selects how you want to use the App. Each option has an information Icon to explain what each option does, and explanation of each option is detailed under the screen shot.
There are 4 options displayed, these are explained briefly below and in more detail in subsequent sections
a) Receive our Travel updates
Clicking this button allows you to receive the Derbyshire road network travel updates.
b) Login
The Login button is for regular road users who need to inform the Derbyshire road network of their location on the road network.
c) Input Access Code
The Access Code is a event code that can be used by one or more mobile devices to display their location on the network
d) Tell us your location
Once Logged in or when the Access Code is Activated this button allows you to turn the Tracking on so that you can be seen by the Derbyshire road network team
Each icon will display a short explanation of the button function.
Receive our travel updates
This option allows you to receive information from the Derbyshire road network team about the route you are travelling on. Example messages could be:-
a) There is a slow-moving vehicle ahead
b) There is congestion ahead
c) There is an event in progress ahead
The messages will be displayed on a screen similar to the ones below:-

Login
To use this option you need to register on the Derbyshire Drive website. The website address is Derbyshire Drive. Once you register the Derbyshire Drive administrator will activate your account. The system, will remember the login credentials last used when the App was started.

Forgot Password
The Forgot Password link will open the Derbyshire Drive website to allow you to reset your password, the screen below allows you to enter your email address, this will send a link to that email address to allow the password to be reset.

Logout
Once you have logged in the system will display a screen allowing you to continue as the Logged In User or to Logout and login with a different account. Logout will bring you back to the Application Home Page screen.

Continue Logged in
If the Continue as Logged In is clicked the Application Home Page is displayed, this time with the Tell us your location button activated.
Tell us your location
The Tell us your location screen allows you to select an option to be tracked as
Special Category Road Users (SCRUM) Types
The SCRUM Type list all the Special Category Road Users (SCRUM) you can use, you must select one from the list. If you have activated a token the SCRUM type that is associated to that token is listed here
Duration
The Duration is the length of time the tracking will last, the default is 15 minutes.
Agree to Terms and Conditions
You must agree to the Terms and Conditions for tracking to start.
Start / Stop button
The Start button will commence the tracking. Once Tracking has started a blue dot will appear on the screen. You can stop and start tracking at any time by clicking the Stop button.
View Travel Updates
The View Travel updates will allow Tracking to be enabled as well as being able to see the Travel updates – see screen shot below. The blue dot indicates that tracking is enabled.
3. Settings
The settings page has the following options
· Notifications – this allows the phone notifications such as vibrate and sound to be used
· Text to speech – this is not enabled
· About – this has a short explanation of the App
· Help – this will display the help manual for this App
